The final stop for our road trip was Whistler. Also known as “Whistralia”, it didn’t take us long to realise where the nickname came from. Pretty much all of the staff in the local shops, restaurants and pubs were aussies. We even met someone from Perth, which was the first time for the trip.
We spent the next 5 days of our trip in the Okanagan Valley. A famous region in British Columbia known for it’s wineries and fruit orchards. We stayed just south of Kelowna at the Okanagan Lake Provincial Park South.
After Jasper, the next stop on our list was Revelstoke. To get there, we decided to take the less direct route and continue north west towards Mt Robson Provincial park. We planned a brief stop off in Clearwater to break up the 600km drive.
Our time in Jasper was initially a little disrupted due to a few issues with the rental car. After several phone calls and some woeful customer service, we were sorted and scheduled to pick up a replacement vehicle in Kamloops in a few days time.
We woke up early partly due to the rain, but also as we were checking out of our site and had a day of driving ahead. The Icefields Parkway, a 232km stretch of road linking Lake Louise with Jasper, Alberta. Rated as one of the top drives in the world, understandably one of the most anticipated parts of the trip for me.
We woke up a little sore from the previous day’s, as well as an uncomfortable night sleeping in the car. The last few nights had been fairly cold and close to zero, so we had took a break from the tent and tried sleeping in the car. Safe to say it wasn’t great.
After a day of hiking at tent ridge, we said our farewells to Sarah and Robbie and made the short drive to Banff. Our accommodation for the next few days would be Tunnel Mountain Village campsite, situated right in the heart of Banff National Park, Alberta.
After a few days in Calgary and stocking up on camping gear we were all set to hit the road. Our first stop was Bow Valley Campground, just outside of the small mountain town Canmore.
We were lucky enough share this trip with some good friends. Who are not only great fun but also super organised and pretty much organised most of this trip (Thank you!!).
Tobermory is a small harbour town located about 4 hours north of Toronto, situated on the Bruce Peninsula. One side is surrounded by the Great Lake Huron, the other by Georgian Bay.
Hello everyone, Guy and I have realised that we have been a little non-existent on the blog front, so this will be a quick recap of 2017 (mainly with pretty pictures and some bits of advice if you plan to visit any of these places).
